A rare creature you'll only get to see if you recruit Avy. She brings one named Familiar with her, which gets its own skillset depending on what type you chose.

FamiliarBond and ConsumeMana are unique to Familiar, and won't be found on other Night Crawlers. ConsumeMana is needed in order to achieve its evolution to a Portal Ripper, which means you will no longer have a Night Crawler, but it will give you access to Avy's homeworld where you can tame wild Night Crawlers.
Combat[ | ]
If you chose Magic type to turn Avy into a chaos mage, Familiar is relegated to a supporting role with Empower and TransferMana.
Dexterity will give Familiar some capability to ConsumeMana on its own with Focus and Blink.
Seduction will let Familiar gang up on an enemy alongside Avy with Constrict and Curse.
Tamer turns Familiar into the main fighter of the pair while Avy supports.
Jumper will jump-start Familiar's evolution with 90 base Mana, along with the Portal skill which makes it possible to use ConsumeMana without outside support.
Regular Night Crawlers play very differently. Their Stats are quite average with a small pool of potential skills that are, while serviceable, nothing really outstanding. Not even the ability to equip a misc. item and a consumable item really give them an edge over your newly acquired Portal Ripper. Not really worth your time by the time you reach Avy's homeworld.

They can be sold for 100 gold at Medium size and for 300 gold at Enormous size. Every level above 1 additionally increases their price by 5%.

- You can fuse it with other creatures and still evolve it to a Portal Ripper as long as it stays a Night Crawler after the fusion, since the option to evolve isn't unique to Familiar.
- It's possible to evolve a regular Night Crawler even without ConsumeMana, it just takes a lot of consumables.
- If you're not interested in Avy's questline and don't mind sacrificing her Night Crawler, Familiar's unique skill ConsumeMana is inheritable and can be combined with Xhana's Focusing to give a unit infinite potential.
