I have leveled up Avy and now the lake indicates that a event but it still doesn't trigger when I go there or pass an entire day fishing or waiting or sleeping there. It is driving me nuts.

Same here, it probably broke with the update. I got the event every time before by getting Avy to 10, but now the forest changes and the "forest" tab on the map lights up but the event is not there.
Yes, the lake event is broken on the current version, hopefully it will be fixed for the next one
